This article systematically reviews the performance issues caused by PHP’s dynamic characteristics and their underlying reasons, and provides an in-depth analysis of the well-known open-source PHP engine HHVM and its predecessor, the HipHop Compiler, explaining how they improve PHP execution efficiency.
